What's up with this?

I think I've come to a conclusion: It's really hard for me to journal what I eat every day, and then come in and re-type what I've eaten on this blog. I like Janna and Angie's idea of sharing what they eat-they take a picture of their journal entry. I think I'll start trying to do that instead to save myself a little sanity. I think I need a darker or bolder inked pen though-because I find it's really hard to read what I'm writing!

I had a great weigh in on Monday-down 2.2lbs. That puts me with just one pound to lose to be back where I was before my surgery! After the meeting I went grocery shopping with Janna so she could give me some pointers. Thanks! We went back to her house where she made a delicious dinner: Pork chops with lots of veggies in a baking dish with some mushroom gravy over the top. It cooked down really nicely to give a lot of flavor-I loved it! Definitely one I'm going to be making at home.

On Tuesday I wasn't as prepared for the day (breakfast/lunch) so I had a hard time getting all my points in during the day. I fixed spaghetti for dinner-with 97% lean ground beef and whole wheat noodles. I'm starting to prefer those to regular noodles. They have such a hearty taste and seem to keep me fuller for longer.

On Wednesday I was off work and got to meet a few friends from work for lunch and a movie. We ate at Tokyo Steak House-and no matter how hard I looked online, I couldn't find NI specific to their restaurant. I got some info out of the WW pocket guide under Japanese/Chinese eating out ideas, and the rest of it I kinda guessed at. I still stayed within my points-even with going to a movie afterwards. No pockcorn or candy. I listened to my stomach telling me I was still full.

**I felt hungry almost the entire day. Even though I ate within my point values, I wasn't getting my best bang for the buck. I was eating empty calories instead of filling foods. I like Weight Watchers because you CAN eat whatever you want within your points, but I look forward to eating the things that will be best for my appetite and health.
**Today (11/9/09) is my WW meeting day. I'm nervous about weigh in, but I feel like I made a good honest effort all week long. Cross your fingers for me!

*I can tell weekends are definitely more challenging for me. I feel like I did well at the Celtic Festival. You should have SEEN the food there. I think they even had a booth to deep fry dirt. I skillfully avoided those and chose a Maui Wowi strawberry smoothie which I'm happy to see, provides their nutritional value :)

*It wasn't my "plan" to eat out twice today. I was super exhausted and sore from this that happened yesterday, so I slept in until the last possible moment and elected to have subway for lunch. After work and a doctors appointment I also found myself not wanting to cook and Shawn suggested pizza. 4 pieces of pizza-a bit much, but they fit in my points and in my day and OMG they tasted so good.
*Going to the the Celtic Festival downtown tomorrow-kind stressed about my food choices. But I'm planning to have a good filling breakfast and bring some snacks to hold me over while we're out, and then follow it up with a well balanced dinner. Wish me luck!

Thoughts-I feel overwhelmed stressing about every little thing I put in my mouth, and trying to plan ahead. If I'm not prepared I do poorly. I know that I do best when I have a good schedule or pattern. So during lunch I started writing down various meal combinations that are reasonable for me, and what their point values will be. Once I'm more into the flow of all this I'm sure I'll be able to break out of the box a little more. I hope it'll help me plan out when you incorporate my healthy oil too-that's so hard for me and I don't want to have to drink it like Janna did!
I also need to buy a fruit juice that I can drink a bit more of points wise. All we had is grape juice, and it's pathetic what a small amount of juice costs!

Thoughts for the day:
I'm glad I prepared ahead of time to go out for dinner. I found a few options in the menu that I'd choose to eat ahead of time. If Shawn wanted to do the 3 for $20 deal, I'd order X. If not, I'd get X off the guiltless grill. I was pretty hungry before dinner, so I opted to have some fresh strawberries and 0 point brocoli to hold me over. It sure helped me not go crazy on the chips and salsa.
